Real v Atletico Nothing More – Champions League Tips

Real Madrid Atletico Madrid

This Wednesday evening sees the Bernabeu and Stade Louis II host the second pair of Champions League Quarter Final second leg matches. With just one goal scored by these four sides in the first leg clashes all of the sides can easily progress to the final four stage of the competition, but where is the betting value on the action?

We take a look at both Champions League Quarter Finals with our Champions League tips. All odds are provided by Unibet.com.

Real Madrid v Atlético Madrid: 1.83 – 3.60 – 4.60

Since these two local rivals clashed in the Champions League Final in Lisbon last May, when Real bagged three goals in extra time to lift the trophy, the teams have clashed on seven different occasions in the Spanish Super Cup, La Primera Liga, Copa del Rey and first leg of this final eight stage tie. The record is four Atlético wins and three draws and with the first leg providing us with a 0-0 draw if the defending Spanish league champions can progress with victory or a score draw at the Bernabeu.

The three games at this stadium this season have ended 1-1, 1-2 Atlético and 2-2 so the away side know they have a great chance of making the final four stage and sending the more illustrious Madrid side crashing out of another cup, like they did in the Copa del Rey in January. With Gareth Bale and Luka Modrić out for this match with Karim Benzema and Asier Illarramendi doubtful the hosts will be down on creativity in the middle of the park and this will suit the visitors perfectly.

Atlético will still find this a tough match as they allowed Real too much of the ball and only a man of the match performance from goalkeeper Jan Oblak kept them in the game last week. He’ll need to be on form again as Cristiano Ronaldo, as we all know, can create goals out of nothing and he’ll be looking to add more to his tally after bagging his 50th of the season at the weekend against Malaga.

The Atlético defence is one of the toughest backlines in all of Europe to breakthrough and while Real have done so in the past, with four goals in three games on this ground this season alone, we feel that the away team in this Madrid derby will have the edge in the middle of the park for this second leg tie and this will alleviate some of the pressure on the goalkeeper and defenders. This in turn will allow Diego Simone’s men to play their natural game and continue their impressive form against their neighbours to see them get enough from this game to send the ten time champions crashing out in front of their own fans.

Monaco v Juventus: 3.40 – 3.25 – 2.28

It has been more than a decade since either of the two sides contesting this Champions League Quarter Final second leg match at the Stade Louis II reached the final four stage in UEFA’s premier football competition and with the tie poised at 1-0 to Juventus following 57th minute Arturo Vidal penalty both of these sides could easily find themselves in the next round, just 180 minutes away from the final.

Monaco are missing key midfielders Geoffrey Kondogbia and Jeremy Toulalan for this match through injury and with the Italian champions needing just a draw in this clash the odds look stacked against the home side. They have scored just three goals in four home matches in the Champions League this season and were beaten 2-0 by Arsenal in the last round while they have triumphed just once in their last five games in all competitions.

Juventus are missing influential midfielder Paul Pogba as well as Kwadwo Asamoah, Romulo and Martin Caceres for this match but having rested a number of key players, including Alvaro Morata and Stephan Lichtsteiner, at the weekend they will be the stronger of the two sides. They have eight wins and eight clean sheets in their last nine matches, including beating Borussia Dortmund 3-0 in Germany during the second leg of the last round of this competition, and we see the Italians making it nine wins in ten at Stade Louis II this Wednesday night.
