EPL Picks: Will the Big Boys Cruise past the Smaller Sides this Sunday?

EPL 06

By Antony Jordan

The final three matches of the 22nd round of the EPL season play out this Sunday with some of the biggest names in the league in action. Chelsea look to continue moving towards the league title as they welcome Hull to Stamford Bridge and Arsenal aim to chase them down as they aim to continue their unbeaten run in the league against Burnley for a 43rd year while the day’s final game sees the champions travel to the south coast in an attempt to kick start their season against Southampton.

We preview all three matches with online sportsbook Bet365.com to provide our best EPL picks from the final trio of Premier League games.

Chelsea v Hull: 1.16 – 7.50 – 17.00

After 21 matches of the season these two sides come into this match 36 points apart as Chelsea top the table and Hull are struggling in the relegation zone so it is not surprising to see the home team as the massive odds to win the match. These sides have clashed on ten occasions over the last decade and Chelsea have won eight of these games, including winning all of the last five matches, and with Chelsea having won all of their last eight matches on home soil and 11 of 12 at Stamford Bridge this season in all competitions we believe that the odds are correct and that Chelsea will win this match.

Hull come into this game with seven successive defeats away from home and they have failed to find the net in six of those matches, scoring their only goal against West Brom, so we feel that Chelsea will be the side doing the scoring in this match and our money will be on a comfortable home win in West London.

Back Chelsea to beat Hull by at least three goals (Chelsea -2) at odds of 2.30 with Bet365.com.

Arsenal v Burnley: 1.18 – 7.00 – 17.00

The odds on the home win in this Arsenal v Burnley match are so low as Burnley are in big trouble away from Turf Moor this season as they have lost eight of their nine away EPL games, drawing the other match away at Manchester United. They have been abject for the majority of the their clashes with six of these nine games seeing no goals from The Clarets but the three times they have scored one goal on the road have come against some of the bigger sides in Southampton, Tottenham and Man City. We do not believe that Sean Dyche’s men will get anything from this game, but can they find the net?

The home side have won four and drawn one of their last five matches and their league form at The Emirates this season has seen them win seven and draw two of nine matches since losing 4-3 to Liverpool on the first weekend, keeping four clean sheets – one of which was against a free scoring Chelsea. Two clean sheets came in their last two home games and they have clean sheets in three successive EPL clashes with Burnley. As a result of this we putting our cash on a comfortable home win in this match.

Our best Arsenal v Burnley bet is back Arsenal to win to nil @ 1.83 in the Bet365 Sportsbook!

Southampton v Leicester: 1.83 – 3.50 – 4.50

The home team in this Southampton v Leicester match do not have the best of records against their guests this Sunday as they have won just one of their last seven clashes in a run that goes back as far as the start of the 2011/12 season and with them having played 90 minutes of football in midweek while Leicester had time to rest due to an FA Cup replay this match will be a tough one of the hosts. Shane Long netted the winner in the cup against Norwich in injury time at the end of the match, but can he and The Saints keep firing to see off the champions?

Leicester’s away form in the league this season is the second worst in the entire division with just three draws to their name from ten road trips, but with draws at Stoke and Middlesbrough as well as an FA Cup win at Everton are they turning a corner? They will hope so but the question is can Southampton be consistent enough to win this match too as they have seen three clean sheets and seven points from three matches come crashing down around them as they were beaten 4-1 by Tottenham and 2-1 by West Brom on this ground in the league.

With all this in mind we are struggling to pick a winner in what will certainly be the most closely fought match this Sunday, but with Southampton struggling for clean sheets and The Foxes picking up away from home we do see goals on the south coast.

Our money is on Both Teams to Score – Yes in this Southampton v Leicester game at odds of 2.00 at Bet365.
