The Angels have not been good vs. lefties this season averaging only 3.3 runs per game. They send Jhoulys Chacin to the mound and in his last three starts he hasn’t fared well posting an ERA of 7.87 and a WHIP of 1.582.

In his last two road starts Chacin’s allowed 10 earned runs in 11.7 innings including 5 homers.

The Rangers counter with Martin Perez who has four home starts, (1–1 with an ERA of 2.59.) Perez is 1–2 in five starts vs. the Angles with a very respectable ERA of 2.73, WHIP 1.212.

Around the Diamonds

· The Rangers are 9–1 against the money line this season as they have been able to bounce back after a poor performance at the plate with an on base percentage of .285 or worse in their last 5 games.

· The Rangers are 7–0 in their last seven home games when tonight’s umpire Ted Barrett is calling balls and strikes.

· When the money line is + or –125, play against all teams, (applies to the Angels,) that have allowed 2 runs or less in two consecutive games when playing an opponent that was shutout. This system is 178–105 = 63% and +64.60-units since 1997.

· Play on all money line favorites of – 110 or higher that average 4.5 runs or less runs per game when playing against an American League starting pitcher with an ERA between 4.70 to 5.70, after allowing 4 runs or less in three straight games. This system is 79–27 = 75% the past five seasons and +41.60-units.

MLB Pick
