US Open Tennis – Day Four: Value Second Round Bets

US Open Day Four

The US Open tennis action at Flushing Meadows in Queens, New York continues today as the second rounds in both the WTA and ATP tournaments conclude for round three to play out across the weekend. We’ve found some closely contested matches that offer plenty of value for bettors and we’re providing our top US Open Day Four picks in conjunction with Betfair.com.

Petra Cetkovska v Caroline Wozniacki: 6.00 – 1.12

Although this pair of Czech and Danish players sit 149th and fifth in the world, with Wozniacki being the fourth seed for the 2015 US Open tournament, the favourite to progress to round three only leads Cetkovska 2-1 in their previous head to head meetings and was beaten when they last clashed in 2013. The Czech 30 year old crushed the former world 6-2, 6-2 at Wimbledon two years ago although the two time US Open finalist, including last year, has breezed through in both meetings on hard courts.

Wozniacki will come into this match full of confidence too as she saw off American Jamie Loeb 6-2, 6-0 in the first round and with Cetkovska having needed three sets to squeeze into the second round at the expense of Christina McHale. American McHale is the world number 59 and with how dominant Wozniacki was in the first round we are unable to see another upset for Cetkovska and our money is on a comfortable win for the Danish favourite.

John Isner v Mikhail Youzhny: 1.18 – 4.60

This second round match between home favourite John Isner and Russian Mikhail Youzhny sees the third meeting between these players in their careers. Despite the fact that Isner sits 80 places better off in the ATP rankings than Youzhny he has been defeated in both previous clashes, suffering defeats on hard court tournaments in Canada in 2009 and the 2010 US Open.

The American may be able to claim his first ever win against the Russian as he breezed into the second round with a straight sets win against Tunisian Malek Jaziri, while Youzhny defeated John-Patrick Smith, the world number 122, in four sets following him dropping the second set. The odds are correct in making Isner the favourite to progress, but even though it has been five years since they clashed Youzhny will not be an easy opponent and we’re backing this to go the distance. Back +39.5 games in this match at odds of 1.85 in the Betfair Sportsbook.

Camila Giorgi v Sabine Liscki: 2.37 – 1.57

The closest of all the three matches we’re looking at today sees the first ever meeting between the Italian world number 36 and the German who sits 24th in the WTA rankings as they’re both looking to move into round three of this final Grand Slam event of 2015. Neither player has been in particularly good form of late with Giorgi having reached the third round of just a single tournament in her last five while Lisicki has managed the same in three since falling in the third round at Wimbledon.

However, both players started their US Open campaigns off with comfortable victories as the Italian outsider to win this match saw off Swedish world number 58 Johanna Larsson 6-3, 6-3 and Liscki defeated Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich, who sits 118th in the world, 6-1, 6-4 but who’ll progress today?

We are unsure of this and feel that the odds could be closer as both of these players could easily win this match. As such, our pick for this US Open Day Four clash is back there to be at least 22 games in the match @ 1.80 with Betfair.
