View Full Version : What should I do?

I'm new to the offshore scene and am still learning the ropes as I go regarding rules and outcomes. I'm not to comfortable with what just occured with my new book i placed a bet a parlay, Ivanisivec to win and to win 3 sets to 2. i won and it paid out 11x my wager. the following day the wager was Voided, and here is the reason I got
Due to a technical error on our website yesterday clients were
temporarily able to place combination bets on Goran Ivanisevic to win
the Wimbledon and Ivanisevic to win the final 3-2 . Obviously these
events are completely related - he could not win 3-2 if he did not win
the match - and therefore these bets should not have been accepted by
our system. However the fact is that your bet was accepted and we have
taken the decision to void the lower priced element of the parley -
Ivanisevic to win the match. does apologise for any
inconvenience that this may have caused but our decision is based on the
fact that the two events are totally dependent on one another and
therefore cannot be allowed to be combined in a single bet.
Now I recieved an email congratulating me with my winnings and the next day this happens i'm piised that the money was taken out of my account. Does the above explanation sound reasonable to you guys, or should I bail on this book, its not my fault that the wager was accepted and the wager seemed OK to me. Please tell me what you think your honesty is appreciated.

Daponte,
They are correct that the parlay should have been refused. In effect you boosted the payout they were offering on Goran winning in 5 by parlaying it with Goran to win, an event which necessarily happens if he wins in 5. In other words, if parlays like that were permitted, I would parlay every basketball or football wager I made on a favorite with a money line wager on the fav!
If you had gotten away with it, more power to you.

Hi DAPONTE... I agree with tyro's post -- he explains the why of it very well... too bad the sportsbook didn't have this figured out before.
I've noticed a couple of offshores that don't allow you to combine a side And an over/under from the SAME baseball game. Their reasoning must be along the same lines although I think the two outcomes are very independent from one another. The only time I've been able to parlay within a single game is when there's a limited schedule (2 or 3 games).
DAPONTE you described a "win notification" method that sounds identical to what SportsInteraction uses. I would receive emails from them -- one email to confirm the wager and a second one congratulating me if the wager won. If I'm right in surmising that this experience is with SportsInteraction it is just one more example of what clowns they are.

Daponte,
Tough break, thinking you had a nice winner and then being notified it was canceled. However, tyro got it right with his response. The book, although they should have been a little more on the ball, is right in the fact that specific parlay shouldn't have been allowed.
Well, nice call on Goran anyway, best of luck.

Did you get some money for winning the 5 set portion of the bet?

What a terrible thing to say!
If you want to be a thief, more power to you???
I won't go so far as to say DAPONTE was trying to steal (though he DID back off his claim to get paid rather quickly). I'll figure that he was trying to "get one over", but didn't equate that with "stealing".
But what kind of person would urge him to try to "get away with it"?
Sorry, dude. Didn't mean to blow a gasket. I'm a bookmaker, and the only thing I don't like about this business is dealing with low-lives who intentionally "shoot angles" every chance they get. If you can pick winners, and beat me fair and square, then bring it on, and I'll take my beating like a man.
But if you see a bookie put up Baylor as a 52-point favorite over Nebraska, and you see this as an "oppurtunity", then I pity you.

Woh hold on a second I was not trying to steal anything from anybody it was an honest mistake/Ignorance on by part and I was Just asking if the explaination the book gave me was legit. I did not see it as a bad bet, and it was accepted, and I have not caused a fuss or asked to be payed. I understand why it was voided, and have acepted it. I was not trying to pull one over on anybody, and if you had read the begining of my post I said I was still learning my way around, the betting options/payouts ect. The book did pay me on the higher payout.
And the reply by WE summed it up best, I have also been here long enough to know that you don't take advantage of bookmakers mistakes, instead you try to contact them to have it corrected. I have also used a local book and they did not offer all the parlay options that some of the offshore books do, I have never had a beef with anybody regarding my wagers.
People have responded, and I have thanked them this is a dead issue, lets spend our nrg on more important things like Sonny's recruitment post.
