The St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets launch Monday’s baseball betting card with game 4 of their series today at 1:10 pm ET
Wright is 9-for-19 lifetime against Lohse and leads the Mets with a .363 average and 32 RBI
St. Louis is 2-8 in its past 10 games with a 1-5 record in the first six games of the team’s current road trip. Three-straight losses to the Mets sinks the St. Louis road record below .500 (14-16) for the first time this season and since starting off 6-2, the Cards are 8-14 away from Busch Stadium.
New York has had big contributions from the top of its order during this series with Andres Torres, Kirk Nieuwenhuis and David Wright combining for 12 hits including two doubles, a triple and a pair of home runs. One of the hottest teams in baseball, the Mets are 7-2 in their past nine and looking to take over sole possession of first place in the NL East with a win today.
Online sportsbooks have listed St. Louis -114 as an overnight favorite but MLB odds have shifted this morning to New York -106. Sports betting shops still suggest 75-percent action on the Cardinals, who will send Kyle Lohse (5-1, 3.36 ERA) to the hill in search of his first win since May 9.
The right-hander has a 5.70 ERA in his last four starts and was 0-1 with a 6.35 ERA in one start at Citi Field last season. The Mets jumped on Lohse for 10 hits in 5.2 innings, sinking his career record against New York to 2-4 while inflating his bloated ERA to 5.91.
Dillon Gee (4-3, 4.69 ERA) is on for the home side and the Mets are 2-1 in his last three starts, producing 6.00 runs per game. His only start against St. Louis was a 4-2 win onJuly 19, 2011where Gee allowed two runs on three hits over 7 innings.
MLB PICKS
The Mets are 18-7 at home against St. Louis the past couple seasons and teams are hitting .273 against Lohse through 11 starts. He’s been tough in day games but New York is 17-8 in 25 early starts this year. If the Mets can stay aggressive and take advantage of their opportunities, we like their chances for a sweep.
