Although Cinco de Mayo was earlier this week, the real fireworks will be this Saturday in Houston with Canelo Alvarez fighting James Kirkland.
Unlike the “Fight of the Century,” Alvarez vs. Kirkland promises to be war. Floyd, Manny, take note.
“Somebody is getting knocked out,” said co-promoter rapper 50 cent (Curtis Jackson) on the fight to ESPN.com.
Canelo Alvarez is 44-1-1 with 31 knockouts. James Kirkland is 32-1 with 28 knockouts.
Canelo who is 24 years old is an overwhelming favorite -625 at SportsInteraction.com against Kirkland +350. Kirkland is coming off a long layoff with his last fight in December 2013, a fight of the year candidate.
