Although Cinco de Mayo was earlier this week, the real fireworks will be this Saturday in Houston with Canelo Alvarez fighting James Kirkland.
Unlike the “Fight of the Century,” Alvarez vs. Kirkland promises to be war. Floyd, Manny, take note.
“Somebody is getting knocked out,” said co-promoter rapper 50 cent (Curtis Jackson) on the fight to ESPN.com.
Canelo Alvarez is 44-1-1 with 31 knockouts. James Kirkland is 32-1 with 28 knockouts.
Canelo who is 24 years old is an overwhelming favorite -625 at SportsInteraction.com against Kirkland +350. Kirkland is coming off a long layoff with his last fight in December 2013, a fight of the year candidate.
SportsInteraction.com indicates that Canelo’s price will increase with the support of the Mexican bettors plus bettors haven’t seen Kirkland fight in almost one and half years.
If Kirkland can get Canelo into a war, which shouldn’t be an issue, Kirkland may be able to pull out a win. The value is on Kirkland at +350 and the value may rise prior to fight time.
Our boxing pick is on Kirkland +350 or better at 1 unit. This will be what the Fight of the Century should have been.
With last week’s Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight, we asked SportsInteraction how they did.
“I can’t speak for the entire industry, but we cleaned up at the fight. Cleaned up. People didn’t want to back Mayweather, because it would feel like rooting for him. They were rooting for Manny, and to see Floyd put on his backside.”
With all the attention on the fight, SportsInteraction.com have put a prop on the potential of the next fight on what Floyd Mayweather’s closing price is.
