In a Wednesday night season opener, the NFL kicks off their new season with a big Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants NFC East matchup.
The defending Super Bowl Champion New York Giants earned the right to host the opener after that somewhat improbable late season run to the Super Bowl, a run that started with a convincing New Year’s Day win over these Cowboys. Dallas gets a shot at revenge right out of the gate, in front of a national TV audience.

The current odds on this game have the Giants at -3.5 with a total of 47.
NFL Picks: Both teams have had to deal with injury issues in the preseason. The G-men’s defensive backfield, already an area of concern, was hit hard when Terrell Thomas (ACL) and Prince Amukamara (high-ankle sprain) went down. If you’re a Giant fan, that secondary is scary.
While Dallas has health concerns at the receiver position, it does look like Miles Austin and Dez Bryant will be ready to go and Jason Witten could start as well. With their top targets ready to go, the Pokes offense should be able to move the ball.
I think the Cowboys have a good shot at winning the game straight up, so I like the underdog getting more than a field goal as my play in this one.
I’m playing the Dallas Cowboys +3.5.
