Old school system play…..taxi driver

It’s usually ugly play

team A wins 2 weeks in a row scoring over 30 and gives up less than 12, bet against them

So then do we fade the Bills on Sunday against the red hot Phins?

Week 2: Bills 38-10 over Raiders
Week 3: Bills 37-3 over Commanders

Current line is Bills -2.5

Sorry, I may have sounded sarcastic and am sure you are trying to contribute to the EE site/members. Please accept my apology!
I just dont put much stock in any statistical trend being the primary reason for picking a specific team to wager on especially when it does NOT take into consideration who is playing who.
Handicapping is primarily looking at fundamentals such as. Who are the combatants, where is game played and what is the established line. There are many key facts /factors to consider at varying weighting such as: coaching, offense vs defense, scheduling/travel, weather, current performance, ( to some extent injuries although most odds makers are good at factoring injuries into their lines).
Yes, we look at numbers to understand defense and offense performance as well as numbers that portray various players performance ( especially current performance)
Bottom line ........handicapping is primarily looking for Line Value. Period
Without even knowing the lines........how can the trend you presented be an indicator of who to place your $ on?
Hope this answers your question,
Again, not trying to be a smart ass.....

Great feedback to educate me on your terminology of handicapping.
Fully agree with you on there are MANY factors to consider when placing a wager.
There are many ways to slice a pie. As you said "handicapping is primarily looking for line value", I feel the taxi system typically helps get you 'line value'. It's team A that is hot, scores lots of points and gives up very few. Joe public LOVE these types of teams. This 'typically' gives us value to take team B. Let's also include the '3 rule', meaning it's very hard for a team to maintain the same high level of play 3 weeks in a row. That information helps us when a team plays 3 division games back to back to back. They (the team as a whole) typically cannot maintain the same high level of energy, even though they clearly would like to. So I would look at that under the 'scheduling' portion of handicapping.
That being said, the buffelo vs dolphins game does fall into the perimeter of the "taxi system", just not sure we are getting any value in the line considering the dolphins are very hot and will probably be a joe public play. I'm not sure how I'm going to play that game if at all. But will end with this thought:
If you've ever played poker. Seeing a person play a lot of hands and will play ANY 2 cards that come their way. Typically gets the 'good' poker players furious because they (the good poker players) have seen enough stats that say "if you play to many hands you will lose" . But for some reason that player is winning!? Why!?
Because betting isn't an exact science, laws of probability help tremendously, but betting isn't an exact science. If so, we would all be rich.

Hope this all makes sense. I feel bad for not contributing more to EE. It is truly one of the best handicapping sites , especially back in the day .

fwiw...I'm a huge cowboy fan.:(

EE was one of the best handicapping sites on the internet.
EE is still one of the best handicapping sites on the internet.
EE will always be one of the best handicapping sites on the internet.

Yes members move away from forum life & in life in general for many reasons; and particularly Social Media & Covid19 have both put a dent into our forum participation levels and it's popularity. It is my hope and desire to help resurrect some of what we appear to have lost and to create a place where not only our current membership, but new members will join us here at Everyedge and we can once again be a leading resource of handicapping information, of handicappers themselves, sharing our passion for people who enjoy recreational sports wagering.

Austin, I can see that you are not blindly wagering on a trend / system by your understanding the variables that contribute to the stated system
ie: ability to maintain high level of performance over many weeks.
it’s this type of discussion that helps all the members on EE.
I feel that my contributions for the most part are short write ups for my pics , not just posting a pick
I Know it takes time , but I do appreciate when other members do the same.
information is the most valuable tool in handicapping.
I read a hell of a lot of stuff each week attempting to distill “Facts” that fit my handicapping methodology
All that said, hopefully more members will join in. Discussions

Hey MM, you are doing a great job moving our site forward again. I know we have lost a few contributors but I see a lot of new names that hopefully can be encouraged to contribute .
We are a very civilized group that understands you can be wrong 47% of the time and still turn a nice profit . Critiques are always positive here !!!!!
