With the first major of the Golf season opening this week, Pinnacle Sports Head Trader of Golf gave his views in making markets for majors, the different variables and the upcoming The Masters tournament.

Off the top, the Head Trader made an interesting comment about golfers lack of performance under pressure, comes into factor of pricing the odds.

He mentions the lack of mental fortitude with some, in particular, Sergio Garcia, Dustin Johnson and Lee Westwood affect their odds. Also Rory McIlroy is stated about his 8 stroke collapse in 2011 which may be an exception, but The Masters does have it way to play tricks on the mind.

The Head Trader was asked if the tournament current favourite, Jason Day, was the best bet to win it. The Head Trader said “the last 6 months – 6 wins from 13 starts – including a clinical performance in the last major, the US PGA, that he can win these events now, and is currently playing better than anyone so is a worthy favourite.”

In terms of popular betting markets, Head Trader says the ‘make the cut/miss the cut’ markets are always popular during Masters week, as mentioned some players play well every year in spite of current form and vice versa, which can lead to some interesting prices.

Pinnacle Sports has various betting markets including match ups, who will win or lose The Masters plus various group betting which ranges from geographical betting to first timers to amateurs and old golfers. We listed a few groups.
