It would be hard to top the collection of buzzer beating NBA action from Wednesday night but the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat is as good a candidate as any Thursday when they meet at American Airlines Arena.
LA is 10-5 on the season but nine of those wins were on home court. All four Lakers’ road losses were by margins of nine points or more and this will be their first trip to face an Eastern Conference opponent.
Miami (9-4 SU) is dealing with as many nagging injuries as any club in this lockout shortened season but with Dwyane Wade (ankle) on the mend, LeBron James (Check status) is averaging 29.8 points per game.
Online sportsbooks are cautiously listing the Heat as 5-point favorites with a total of 191.5 but James left shootaround early today and will be a game time decision. The superstar is dealing with a flu that he played through during Tuesday’s 120-98 win over San Antonio where he put up a game-high 33 points.
NBA Picks: Kobe Bryant is also hampered by a lingering wrist injury but he is likely to play. We like the underdog Lakes in this one, as we see them playing hard for a full four quarters and keeping it close.
