NBA Picks: Pacers vs. Heat

  • by

The Indiana Pacers are in Miami tonight taking on LeBron James and the Heat and in what has been a rare occurrence the past year or so, NBA odds are moving against the King!

Online sportsbooks opened Wednesday night’s contest at Miami -9.5. The line has come down. Pinnacle Sports currently has the line at -8 with a total of 197.5.

Indiana is off to a 4-1 start and trails Chicago by just a half-game in the Central. Far from one of the trendy NBA picks to compete for the title, the Pacers are getting the job done with defense and are currently tied with Orlando and New Orleans for third fewest points allowed per game (89.0).

The Pacers are 2-1 away from Conseco Fieldhouse, splitting the first two games of this trip against the Pistons and Nets. Now is where things get difficult. After Miami the Pacers will play in Boston where they have not won in five years (0-7 SU).

Miami (5-1 SU) suffered its first loss two days against the league’s overall leader in points allowed and some feel that Atlanta’s gameplan during Monday’s 100-92 win offered a glimpse on how to diffuse the league’s most potent offense.  It was the fewest points Miami has scored all-season and 10 below the team’s per game average from 2010-11.

The Heat had a three-game home winning streak snapped by Indiana early last season and repaid the favor with back-to-back wins, taking the series 2-1. Margins of victory were by five and seven points, however, and it makes this number seem a little steep.

NBA Picks: Take the Pacers with all the points you can find to earn a cover tonight in Miami.
