Zack Greinke will try and cool off a Miami team who has won four-straight Monday when the Milwaukee Brewers open a four-game set against the Marlins at Miller Park

The Marlins (38-40) leaned on their pitching staff over the weekend to complete a three-game sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies and keep pace in the NL East standings, where each of the top four teams has played .500-ball in the past 10 games.
Miami is 22-22 at home this season and scoring 4.16 runs per game (RPG) but that number drops to 3.35 RPG on the road, where the Marlins have lost five of their past six. They’ll face Brewers ace Zack Greinke (9-2, 2.82 ERA) in the series opener and online sportsbooks list Milwaukee as a -154 favorite with a posted total of 8 Under (-118).
Greinke is 3-0 in his last five starts with a 1.70 ERA and 0.89 WHIP and he’s faced Miami three times in his career, going 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA in 23 innings of work. Greinke’s past four starts were on the road and his last outing at Miller Park, the right-hander shutdown the Cubs for seven innings to earn his 15th consecutive home win.

The Marlins will send Carlos Zambrano (4-6, 3.71 ERA) to the hill and the righty is looking to end a four-game winless streak. Zambrano is 1-3 in his last five with a 5.70 ERA and 1.86 WHIP and although he’s pitched better on the road, control issues have been a major problem. Zambrano has walked 20 batters in his 23.2 innings and his last three starts against Milwaukee, the Brewers clubbed 11 earned runs off him in 18.2 innings.

Milwaukee averages 5.23 RPG at the hitter-friendly Miller Park and in Greinke’s six home dates they have upped that number to 6.67 RPG. Look for the Brewers to take advantage of Zambrano’s inconsistency as they provide the ace of their staff with the support he needs for another victory.
