Pinnacle Odds: Philadelphia Phillies +101 at Atlanta Braves -109 Total 8.5

Jamie Garcia is the lone bright spot in the starting rotation for the Atlanta Braves as he’s been “lights out” vs. opposing batters in his last three starts.

Garcia has pitched a combined 21.3 innings in his last three trips to the mound allowing 1 earned run on 16 hits, (1 homer,) while walking 5 vs. 15 strikeouts with an impressive ERA of 0.42 as well as a stellar WHIP of 0.949.

At home Garcia has a very respectable ERA of 1.88, WHIP of 1.047 in two starts through 14.3 innings allowing 3 earned runs, (2 homers,) on 3 walks vs. 12 strikeouts.

Garcia has an ERA of 2.90, WHIP of 1.129 vs. Philadelphia. On 04/22/17 Garcia allowed no earned runs in the first 5 innings at Philadelphia as the Braves won 1-0 after 5.

Last year, on 05/05/16, while pitching for the Cardinals, Garcia allowed no earned runs in the first 5 innings in a 1-0 win for St. Louis after 5 innings.

Aaron Nola gets the start for the Phillies tonight, Nola is 2-3 with an ERA of 5.06, WHIP of 1.437. He worked a season-low three innings in a 10-2 loss at Miami last week and he’s 0-3 with an ERA of 5.63, WHIP of 1.250 in his last three starts since spending time on the disabled list, (coping with a strained lower back.)

Nola has pitched well vs. the Braves with an ERA of 2.32. In his last two starts vs. the Braves he allowed 3 earned in the first 5 innings on 07/28/16 and on 05/20/16 he allowed 1 earned run in a 2-1 first 5 innings loss.

MLB Pick

Simply put, Atlanta’s bullpen is “Bull,” so I have opted for a first 5 innings selection on the Braves.

My wager on Everyedge.com selection is to take the Atlanta Braves in the first 5 innings at -115 on the money line with Garcia starting for the host team.
