MLB Picks: Milwaukee Brewers vs. Colorado Rockies Preview

  • by

Wednesday, August 15 – Running the MLB card earlier today I’d made a note to come back and take an extra look at the Brewers vs. Rockies matchup. I’d read that Guillermo Moscosco would be getting a spot start, which tweaked my interest.

I didn’t have a chance to check the overnight lines, but when I ducked into my Pinnacle Sports account, the MLB odds were Colorado -104, Milwaukee +101. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Brewers as a small road dog and booked in a one unit play on them.

It was more a play against Moscosco than a “play on” the Brewers, but I really liked the way the game setup for Milwaukee, even without a nice edge on the mound. The Brewers had dropped the first two games of the series up in Colorado, giving me a situation I always like to keep an eye on…teams looking to avoid a sweep. It’s certainly not an automatic play, not even close, but if a decent team has lost the first two or three games of a series and are staring at a sweep, I’ll give them an extra long look when doing my handicapping. The Brewers fit that situation.

Milwaukee gives the ball to Mark Rogers, who hardly inspires confidence, but in this matchup, I give him an edge over his opponent. Rogers had a very sharp start in his last outing, one I’m hoping he builds on today.

Moscosco has been stuck in the minors and the bullpen most of this season, getting the start today in place of Drew Pomeranz. I think the Brewer lineup rack up some hits off him, giving their pitcher some nice support.

MLB Picks: I’m backing the Milwaukee Brewers at +101 in their Wednesday meeting with Colorado.
