MLB Tips and Trends: Brewers at Dodgers

  • by

Tonight’s game will feature a pair of unfamiliar faces on the mound as Milwaukee continues its four-game set against Los Angeles, but Matt Kemp will rejoin the lineup and that’s made the Dodgers a clear favorite with sportsbooks

Kemp leads all Dodgers hitters who more than 100 at bats with a .359 average, 12 home runs and 28 RBI in 34 games this season

The Brewers opened May with a 2-4 trip to the West Coast and was hoping to find better results as they close out the month at Dodgers Stadium. Milwaukee is just 9-15 on the road this season and 8-11 vs. the NL West, compared with a 19-14 mark in 2011.

Tonight the Brew Crew will hand the ball to Michael Friars for his first MLB start but the odds have stayed relatively low on this game since Los Angeles is also using inexperienced right-hander Nate Eovaldi. Each has had limited exposure to the bigs; Friars in relief and Eovaldi as a six-time starter and late-reliever last season.

HOME COOKING

Los Angeles is 21-6 at home this season and hitting .291, the second-best mark in the majors. Since its only home series loss of the season (Apr. 23-25), the team is on a 14-4 run at Dodgers Stadium.

Sports betting shops are showing 81-percent action on the home side and line at Pinnacle opened at -125 but has recently moved as high as -131. With Clayton Kershaw in the rotation there haven’t been many home games this season with a moneyline under -135 but LA’s record in the past 10 is 8-2.

MLB PICKS

Milwaukee is 7-12 after a win this year and the Brewers have only strung back-to-back wins together twice since May 1. With Matt Kemp back in the lineup this price seems like good value on the home side.
