NHL Picks: Predators vs. Sharks

  • by

Tonight’s Nashville vs. San Jose game may not get the attention of Sid Crosby’s return in New York, but these are two critical points for the Sharks as they try to break out of their funk

San Jose earned four of a possible eight points in a four-game road trip that ended Tuesday with a 3-2 overtime loss in Calgary. The Sharks and Flames are locked in a three-way tie with Los Angeles, chasing Colorado and Phoenix for the final playoff spots in the West. All of these teams except the Kings are in action tonight and sports betting sites say that NHL action is up, despite the attention given to March Madness.

NHL odds for tonight’s game favor the Sharks -133 with a total of 5 Over (-132) and starting goaltenders will likely be Pekka Rinne (39-14-7, 2.37 GAA, .924 SV) vs. Antti Niemi (26-18-9, 2.44 GAA, .913 SV).

San Jose’s power play was a thing of beauty in Alberta, cashing three of seven chances, but unlike the dollar, the Sharks seem to lose value when heading south back across the border. San Jose’s power play, still ranked fourth overall, is hitting just 15-percent in March and against the stingy Predators penalty kill that could spell trouble.

NHL PICKS
Nashville holds a 2-1 lead in the season series and Rinne was in net for all three, posting a 2.32 goals against average. You’ll want to confirm his status for this game before betting anything heavy on the dog but Rinne is 8-1-1 with a 2.23 goals against average his past 10 starts and with him between the pipes there is solid value or the road squad.
Pick: Take the Predators
